Dr. Meg Carbonatto has two decades of private psychotherapy practice, concurrent with writing educational programs on counseling, psychotherapy and mental health. She also has extensive experience managing her own consultancy for change management, management training, and group facilitation; and a lifetime of working in diverse cultures, bilingually.

Expert Bio

With qualifications, skills, and experience in change management, training, counseling/psychotherapy, and writing, Meg is a natural for the job of writing wellness courses for Well Excel and the Mental Health Academy. She holds Diplomas in Counseling and Psychotherapy (equivalent to bachelor’s and master’s degrees, respectively) from the Institute of Psychosynthesis New Zealand, a Ph.D. in Sociolinguistics and Education, and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Bilingual Education: academic degrees from the United States. Meg began adult life as a bilingual-multicultural teacher, changing to corporate change management and management training when she went to live in New Zealand. Having her own training business for many years afforded Meg the opportunity to create her own courses. These were tailored specifically to clients’ needs, using up-to-date materials and theoretical frameworks which encouraged participation, growth towards self-responsibility, and commitment to effectiveness in alignment with strategic objectives. The courses and change projects were designed for every level of corporate and government clients’ organizations from senior managers to junior staff. Meg had the privilege of delivering them in most New Zealand cities. In private psychotherapy practice for over 20 years, Meg has also authored two books and numerous articles on aspects of resilience, holistic health, and health promotion; conducted several large-scale research projects; and co-authored multiple materials development projects. She has had the pleasure and perspective-broadening opportunity of living and working in five different countries, using multiple languages as media of communication.
